Collaborating projects background

This collaborative project was done with a final year game art student. About the game background, he said: ‘The initial inspiration for the project came from the impact and influence of Japanese culture on China’s Generation Z. Despite some cultural elements being originally transmitted from ancient China to Japan, the development of Japan’s entertainment industry has led to confusion among many Chinese youths regarding their own native culture. This work is adapted from one of the Four Great Classical Novels of China, “Water Margin,” integrating various traditional cultures such as Sichuan opera, Peking opera, and Nuo culture. Additionally, I realize that culture is fluid, so I plan to reference games like “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,” “Black Myth: Wukong,” and “God of War” for cultural innovation and the integration of trendy culture, thereby making traditional Chinese culture more appealing to the younger generation.’
